I’ve had the good fortune of traveling to Ireland twice. It’s such a beautiful place with friendly people, and St. Patrick’s Day gives me an excuse to relive my adventures there. I’ve made several recipes for the holiday over the years, and I love that the day breaks up the spring doldrums. It pops up between the holiday season and before the weather really starts warming up here in Minnesota, and offers a fun excuse to wear green, spend a day as an honorary Irish person and eat some of these wonderful St. Patrick’s Day desserts.
This holiday gets me thinking about spring. Check out some of my other favorite desserts for this time of year:
There are as many Irish Scone recipes as there are households, so this is one of them that I witnessed while traveling. Simple and delicious! Pro Tip: USE GREAT BUTTER!
This chocolate tart is so delicious—I want to make it a new tradition at the holidays. I had to pipe the whipped cream into fleur de lis to guild the lily and you must garnish with chocolate shavings! If you don't want to include the Irish cream, you can omit it.
This Guinness Chocolate Cake with White Knight Buttercream based on recipes from Zoë Bakes Cakes, was inspired by my trips to Ireland and features amazing Irish butter.
Here is a simple white cake that is a wonderful base for just about any occasion. It has a faint vanilla flavor and is perfect when you don't want a lot of competition for the frosting and other flavors you are adding to your cake. Because it only uses egg whites, the color is as pure white as you are going to find in a cake. It will let the colors of your frosting or other layers shine.
The classic flavor of thin mint in cupcake form. The cake in these is light, fluffy and moist, and these beautiful green cupcakes are perfect for a special occasion that calls for bright colors and delicious, fun snacks.
Fresh mint in the batter adds a bright, fresh flavor to this cheesecake, and the chocolate crust makes it taste like a super-lush thin mint. This is a perfect recipe for St. Patrick's Day with the beautiful green swirls.
I took a classic French dessert and added a bit of mint to the ganache—voila, you have minty macarons for St. Patrick’s Day. The vibrant green color is gorgeous and the mint flavor is a nice twist.
