I do not have your beautiful baking book but I would absolutely love to have a copy!
Choosing what I would bake first is a very tough question. I love a good pound cake and I love the flavor of lemon so I would probably make the lemon curd pound cake. Then perhaps the marble pound cake or the plum cake or maybe the devils food cake!!! So many amazing choices!!!! I would bake these cakes for my family. My mother was a Holocaust survivor who baked the most delicious Eastern European cakes and cookies( usually without a recipe). I am now the designated baker in the family so this would be my joy.

I bought this book last December after seeing that amazing looking “stand up” Bûche de Noel on your Instagram page. What an outstanding cake that is! (And I’ve made my share of Bûche de Noel’s). Not only impressive in presentation, it is absolutely delicious!
Then my 4 year old grandson was checking out your book and came upon the sprinkle cake… which he promptly called his Birthday Cake… so I made that next. Another big hit!
Then, at my daughter’s, I made the Pavlova for the family Sader…. Seems i’m 3 for 3 in the dessert success department!
Your instructions are easy to follow and the baking academy “extras” are truly insightful. So, last night I tackled Italian meringue to make the Angel Pie you featured on Instagram… wow! Is that a fun dessert. I made Lime curd instead of lemon and yikes!! Another level of curd!

I have loved following you on IG for years- and as much as I do love cake, I’d probably start with the banana bread w/ Nutella swirl. A friend and I bake “together” once a month. She lives about 300 miles from me so we do it virtually. If I win this book, I’ll then buy her a copy and send it to her so that the two of us can bake the same cake on the same day and commiserate about our experience and flavors. This would be such fun for us since with Covid-19 still out there, both of us are still very careful regarding our social interactions.

They are getting really good at cracking eggs and measuring ingredients. Just like I baked with my Grammy growing up. It’s such a gift of time spent together!
I really want to try making the angel food cake! I grew up with my mom making it from a box and I’ve never attempted one myself (either from scratch or from a box – haha). Unfortunately I don’t have this book yet in my cookbook collection, but That white rainbow sprinkle cake looks like it would be perfect to make for my firstborn’s birthday! He passed away 5 days after he was born, but every year we celebrate his birthday with cake and blow out candles for him (I even took a cake decorating class the first year he was gone to learn how to do a good one for him). He would be 9 this year and I think he’d love something fun like a white sprinkle-covered cake. Thanks for the chance!

I think I would CRY if I won this. My mom is the biggest fan and it’s been such a saving grace of a TV show during a couple of horrible years. I’m dreaming of the photos in it and I know it’s probably not in the book, but I’m ready to try my first Pavlova!
The first cake I made was the plum cake. The texture of the cake is beautiful, the plums turn jammy, and there is a crunch on top from the cinnamon sugar sprinkled on top. It’s not too sweet, just a versatile cake that’s good for breakfast, tea/coffee time, dessert or late night snack…it’s just delightful anytime!

How do I choose what to bake? So many choices. It is rhubarb season, or maybe something vegan for my daughter? Or the Frozen passion fruit souffle inspired by Larousse or the yummy looking Hot chocolate cake with just the right looking crumb and texture, or a chance to use my vanilla beans that have been soaking and waiting for just the right recipe. Too many yummy looking things. I love that you do your own photography and provide those tempting pics. I now use your book as my “ Cake Bible!” I have made, lemon pound cake from my Meyers Lemons in my front yard, hot chocolate cake with making for the first time my own marshmallows, a wedding cake, many times lemon curd which is divine, but I believe my favorite so far has been the pumpkin chocolate with meringue topping. It just melted with every bite.

I would love having a copy of your cookbook. I made your Devil’s Food Cake with Swiss Meringue Icing and Cherry Preserve Filling for my niece’s 18th birthday. The cake was featured on your TV program on the Magnolia Network. I tinted the icing a pale blue and hand piped white snowflakes to place on the cake for a Winter themed dinner party. The cake was delicious! Thank you for sharing the recipe. Everyone loved the cake!

I made the plum cake first…the texture is delicate, the plums turn jammy, and the top is crunchy from the cinnamon sugar. This cake is not too sweet, and perfect for breakfast, tea/coffee time, dessert, or a late night snack. Delicious anytime!

I was born, raised in Minnesota. In my mid 30’s I moved to Leesburg, Virginia for 17 years and then Charleston, SC for 2 years. I finally made the move back to MN and so happy. There are great restaurants here and now I discovered another local celebrity baker whose visits to local places for her show inspires me and confirms the move back was the right decision.
